How to flush an engine in a slip?

Ok, may be a dumb question, but thinking of dropping my boat in a slip for two months to salmon fish. I have a 1996 VolvoPenta 5.7 Gi with closed cooling and heat exchanger. I heard about a Perco valve but not sure where to install it. Is it necessary to even flush the engine with a closed cooling system?

Thank you, Eric 22' Davis

It sure won't hurt to flush. Your engine has a VST (Vapor separator tank) with the high pressure fuel pump on it. In salt water they corrode and cost more than the exhaust manifolds to replace.
If you just put a Tee in the water inlet hose coming from the transom shield, and plumb it so you can hook a hose to it, you can hook up a hose of fresh water, start the engine and run it and flush the system. You just have to make sure you have a cap on the tee so when the hose is not hooked up it doesn't suck air.

Thank you, Don! Will go that route. I suppose it's not that important to flush the outdrive by using ear-muffs at the slip?
