Can anyone help I am a new boat owner of a used boat. I have a 1988 bayline capri with force 50 outboard motor. I can not get it to high idle in (N). Is this motor suppose to high idle in (N)? Is there a button or switch? If so where should it be at? And if I am doing it right what is the problem with the high idle in (N)?:(

if its like my controls you need to pull out the throttle lever about 1/4 " then go forward with it. thats how my 89 50 does. the whole lever pulls out to disengage the gears. funny. ive had the boat 8 years and figured this out just last week after reading threads on here lol. i just let it warm up at idle. no more. i took it out the other dayd to see if thie new found feature worked. and it did. DOH!!! hope this helps.

If you have newer controls, there is a large button in the center of the shift handle, at the pivot point, push it in and throttle up about 3/4 throttle.
