Hello all, I just bought a 2001 Tahoe Q5 with a 4.3L mpi mercruiser. The previous owners informed me it will not start unless you used starting fluid. I know, terrible. I took it out last weekend and they are correct. After running for 4 hours, you still have to use the starting fluid to get it to restart. My question is, what can I do to fix it? Replace spark plugs and injectors?

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... While I don't do much with electronic motors,......

It's obviously not gettin' any fuel to start,.....

I'd examine the Contents of the fuel filter for anything but clean fresh gasoline,.....
Ya might find some clues,.....

That was one of the first things I replaced was the fuel filter. I didn’t find any water or debris.

With an MPI engine, the best thing for any diagnostics is to get yourself the Rinda Diacom software, and a fuel rail pressure test kit. Trying to fix an injected engine without the software is very 'hit and miss'...
