How to ID engine year (an answer within!)

Just spent a lot of time searching this site for an answer to what year my Evinrude 115HP engine is.<br /><br />115493B (Turns out to be a 1974)<br /><br />All I could find were references to the "INTRODUCES" trick and the http://www.omc.com site (now dead).<br /><br />Lo and behold, while scanning porn sites I came across these two marine engine related pages:<br /> http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/evinrude/#top <br /> http://www.marineparts.com/partspages/techhelp/TECH6.HTM <br /><br />Hope this is of help to someone!<br />-ANT
