Would like to know how to do this. This motor does not have a tale tell and I want to monitor the engine temp. Thanks!

Come on guys someone must know a way. This is an old motor and I bet the overheat buzzer is toast and I want to make sure I never cook the beast. Thanks!

The hot ticket is not a temp gauge but a water pressure gauge. Install a new waterpump and water press gauge. Note water press at all engine speeds, (idle, fast idle, low mid-range, etc.) and then watch the water press like you would a temp gauge. Any deviation in press from whats normal warns of a problem before it overheats. Also monitors waterpump wear. My engine didn't have a tattle-tale either but it comes in the OMC water pressure gauge kit. Get the kit and we'll tell ya where to drill and tap the engine for the pressure tap fitting. Easy project.

c/6

Hooty
