I would suggest getting a shop manual (OEM) 1st, then have at it. If you don't mess with any linkages, the timing won't change.

Hey Jim, Thanks very much for a speedy reply, I have an old boat and I am trying to do most of it myself. What do you mean by linkages??

How many bolt holes are in the top of your flywheel? Mine has 2 and I was able to make my own puller from an old lawnmower blade, a big nut, bolt and washer for the center, and 2 bolts that screw into the flywheel. You need to drill 2 holes in the blade for them. Screw the 2 small bolts into the flywheel, then use the large bolt to pop the thing off by tightening it through the nut and washer, which are placed on the underside of the center hole in the blade. WildOne is right...save yourself lots of grief by getting an impact wrench.

Use GR8 bolts if you make your own puller.

It sounds like a couple of people have never seen a 200 before, you will need to borrow or buy the correct puller that screws in the flywheel. Its available through NPPA or anyone who sells Sierra products

Re: How to Install Mariner Stator

we have enough problems about without bogus puller info, buy and use the correct tool and its a 35 min operation. break off a bolt in the flywheel and ya just added 2 hours to it. buy the manual, buy the puller, DO NOT use an impact on the selflocking nut or it may trash itself and especially DO NOT use an impact to reinstall the nut, carefully clean the splines and taper with alcohol or similar solvent and properly torque the nut as per the service manual. a note of warning, me and most like me bill at 125 per hour to remove customer broken bolts :) :) .
