When you install the garboard drain in the picture it doesn't go all the way to the other side of the transom how do you prevent water from damaging the transom? Is there another type of tube you install behind it and seal in?

I would think that the plugs should look similar to the plastic type plugs that go all the way through the transom covering all the wood inside the hole.

I was thinking the same thing when I installed mine, maybe solder a piece of copper pipe to it and glue it all in with 5200 real well. When I put mine in I just drilled larger hole, and added more glass and gel coat inside the hull at dain

I always recommend drilling and oversized hole when installing any type of drain tube in the transom and then filling the hole with "Tiger Hair' (thickened resin with stands of fiberglass mixed in) Once it cures re-drill the whole to the appropriate size and install the drain. This way there is No possible way for water to get to the wood core of the transom should the drain develop a leak in the future. Either Polyester Resin Or Epoxy will work equally well.
