Florida - land of sunshine, palm trees and retirees.

Also, a land of prisoners

LOTS of em

There is also another problem in Florida, that of derelict hulls desparately in need of repairs. to the point that disposal of them is the only percieved solution.

WELLLLLL ....

As Jason and Ron and all the other masochists on this forum have pointed out, the inexact science of boat rebuilding revolves around sweat and sufferage

The State of FLorida could go into the boat business! Charge a 100 dollar disposal fee, which would amply cover transportation to the prison, and teach the inmates the art of boat restoration, let the metal shop churn out trailers. Buying in bulk, they could halve the cost of repairing the boats, and sell the restored to new boat for a thousand bucks profit, which they could cut the inmates in for a slice of with special privelages given for participation

FL gets rid of the THOUSANDS of boats it needs to dump, and the prison system could reap some lost loot

Best of all, the inmates would have a valuable skill ... in fact, they could become Boat Mechanics and steal legally!!!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Ray,

I think you're onto something.

Here in AZ, the prisoners "upfit" most of the police vehicles. I always thought that was poetic justice. ;)

And it would put all the current boat dealers out of business when the cheap boats hit the market.
Then they would be lynchin the politicians that thought it up.

I like rosco's point and another is that those lazy dumbbell Inmates wouldn't work in a pie factory if you threatened to shoot them
They would stay Long enough to huff all the fumes off the resin and then fall out and quit and you can't make them work if they don't want to.

I for one am gonna see if sheriff joe can be placed over searer for all prisons

If the state got involved it would cost $10,000 to restore a $2,000 boat.

jay, not if sherrif Joe got into the act, those suckers would crank out a PERFECT boat a day, or he would have em bivouac in the SWAMPS, hes a total BASSTARD, I LOVE IT, lol, bout time someone made those miserable thugs actually PAY for a crime, instead of giving them tv, cable at that, and air conditioning

the idea of those AZ scumballs laying in drenching horrible heat with nothing but the memories of what they did to who gladdens me as I merrily clack away in AC comfort

for the TRULY innocent, I feel that it would be a horrible injustice

but there is a line from Shawshank, hey, the kids innocent!!! dont you know everyone in here is innocent????

Re: How to kill two birds with one stone

It looks good on paper but with Jeb in the big house here in florida It will never happen.
Jeb has cut the budget so much that there is no money for vocation programs. 2 months ago they did away with the ones they had, put all the instructers we had in the unemployment line state wide. The only class that is still there is a court orderd drug class, Last week we drug tested the 20 i/m's in the class and 12 tested + for marajuana use in the last week. The i/m's that use to be in the AC repair, tile setting, cabnet bulding and general constrution class are now just walking around picking up leaves and paper. ( I am sure there are lots of good paying jobs for that when they get out) There is no cable TV or ac in the florida prison system and alot of the i/m's wanted the classes that we once had. there was a waiting list to get in. GED classes were manditory for all i/m's JEB cut them to. So when these guys get out and have no trade to make a living with just send a thank you card to JEB BUSH
I will get off my soap box now.
