Hi Folks.
1985 Formula 242. Steering seized up during the winter where the pushrod goes thru the black aluminum steering guide. Managed to use a bit of heat and PB Blaster to get it moving an 1/8 inch at a time. Some advice to others before I ask a couple of questions: the key was to rotate the pushrod in the steering guide instead of try to force it through.
So how do I lube this pushrod now thats its unstuck ?
Also, when the nut where the cable first enters the steering guide (coupler nut I believe) was removed I was able to pull the cable(thinner pushrod than that discribed above) out a few inches even though the pushrod that was in the steering guide tube did not move because it was seized... Can anybody explain to me how it works?
I'm new here, so if I've offended any forum rules gimmee heck!
Thanks all, hope my opening tip above helps someone!
