I'd like some info from those who have made their own post type trailer guides. Most of the ready made on the net say they're made from 2" pvc. Having these would sure make it a lot easier to load my boat on the trailer by myself. Anyone here done them yourself? If so, how?

An advantage of those metal guides over PVC is that you can mount your lights on 'em without running extra ground wires. Those lights on the guide-ons are great for loading at night & you never have to unplug 'em; they don't even have to be submersible.

Yep, thats why I like them.......plus at night i can check my lights operation without a second person. and while traveling in early morning or night all i have to do is look out the rear view to see my lights are functioning...just peace of mind.

do a search on this topic, there are lots of ideas for diy guide-ons. I love the ones I made from scrap parts- wouldn't want to trailer with them. see the pics I posted previously, or let me know if you can't open them.

Joe

Thanks for the info and links. Spent some time looking everything over and decided to go with a system like Pony 85 except I'll have another way of attaching the round floor pipe holder to the frame and I'll be using 1.5" pvc. After I launch it, I'll get back with info on how it worked.
