How do you manually lower the outdrive if the hydraulics fails? I see a knob on the pump, but turning it doesn't seem to do anything. Have a 120hp mercuiser.

Thanks.

You can loosen the hydraulic lines at the trim rams and the fluid pressure will bleed off.

You will not be able to raise it back up.

Isn't there an over-ride or disable method?

No override, did the hydraulics fail, or the motor, or the solenoids, or the switch, or ?????

Re: How to manually lower outdrive?

The switch to lower the outdrive became intermittant, and after looking into it I think it was due to poor connections at the pump area. I had 25 ohms resistance on the power connection at the pump since it was attached using a big copper lug instead of directly attaching the cable lug to the bar; i.e., it went pwr cable lug to copper lug to bar instead of pwr cable lug to bar. The hardware on the lug was steel and corroded. Hopefully this fixes it, but sometimes in a pinch it would be nice to be able to freely move the OD.
