Check the rpm with an accurate shop tach. The tach on the boat may not be accurate(been there)so double check. You shouldn't go above 4800 rpm.also check the trim limit switch adj.You should have 20-3/4" from fwd.trim pin to aft. trim pin center for max.limit.

In my opinion, you can read everything you can get your hands on and still the only way is to test, test, test. It seems everyone has a different idea as to what the right prop is. Do you want top end or hole shot, Some really like the torque shift props, other wouldnt have one you know where.

I have been through this process on several boats. If you are running aluminum, test the same size and pitch in Stainless Steel.

Get your baseline, go from there. There is a prop calculator on this site----use the search function.

One prop won't do it all.

I have $1000 in props and can do anything I want--tube, ski, wakeboard, and go fast---depending on what prop I have on at the time.

Spending $1K on the engine will get you about 1 additional mile per hour. Test all the props first, then move to the engine upgrades if you have the $$$.

Pirahnna props are good, I have one. Each blade is made of a very hard polymer as well as the hub. The blades are interchangable from the hub individually. So since you normally hit just one blade. You can replace it in minutes. I went from a 14-1/2x19 to 15x19 man what a difference it made I can do everything I want

Pitch is a very important aspect of a boat, as important as having a beilge pump(no joke)

you need to reach WOT(wide open throttle)
Most boats about 4000 rpms(check for your boat)

If you like to ski , tow , or go slow a LOWER pitch will give you all of these.

IF you like to Cruise , Go fast , Get better MPG
a HIGHER pith will give you all this.

But like said father up in the post --TEST IT--

You can read till you turn blue, but you really have to test a prop on YOUR boat.

Two of the SAME props will run COMPLETELY different on Two DIFFERENT boats.

Just match your WOT and you will have many happy days of boating.

Do you have a Hydro-foil ? it will give you more TOP end , MPG ......
