Hello- I've read some of the posts about replacing various seals in the Mercruiser outdrive and I have a question. My drive is leaking gear lube from the two seawater drain holes on either side. Which means the leak is inside the drive somewhere right? So pressure testing it will only show bubbles/a leak from those vent holes, correct? If that's the case it seems to me it won't actually tell me where the leak is coming from or which seals to replace. How would you guys approach isolating this and fixing it? Thanks for the help.

Guessing its still an alpha 1 drive so drain the unit, split the unit. if there is oil on the lower driveshaft, the upper unit seals need replacing. If there is oil present around the shift shaft splined shaft, the shift shaft bushing is bad. If oil is found under the impeller, the water pump base seals are bad.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, it's an Alpha 1. Where do you go to identify the part numbers and actually order the parts?
