i hope im posting this in the right place, i have a 12ft john boat and im running a '75 6hp long shaft i need to raise the transom 2 3/8" so the cavitation plate will be in line with the bottom of the boat, any ideas on how to do this right and make it last, ive noticed my boat wants to stand on the transom at wot, is 2 3/8" that important? by raising the motor , will it help me have more of a chance to plane out? ive checked numerous sites and adj motor mounts none seem to be what im looking for, because the motor allready sets back off the transom a good bit and i dont want to go back any more just up. any help at all would be greatly appreiciated, thanx

Re: how to raise transom?

a jack plate is the item your looking for.......

they sell them here at iboats....or search "jackplate"

if you are handy....you could build a higher transom....it thats the route you want to go.....ask how to in the resto section

cheers

Re: how to raise transom?

transon elevator would solve your problem. also the angle the motor sits will help, moving the tilt pin, toward the transom will push the bow down, moving it away, will push the bow up.

An inexpensive, less creative solution is the "Mini-Jacker" Jack Plate, sold by Cabela's. Put one on my 14' Crestliner just a few weeks ago. Great solution!
