How to remove 1986 force 50 engine cover ?

Whats the trick to remove the engine cover on a 1986 Force 50 outboard ? We just picked up our first boat, 1986 Baliner Capri with a 50 outboard. I would like to change the plugs before running it but have not been able to remove the cover.

I'll answer my own question just incase someone find this in a search. There is a flip lever on the covers under side, transom side of the cover.
