I have a 90 degree v4 115hp crossflow. I have the crankshaft out but not sure how to get the upper bearing out of the upper crankshaft bearing cap. I have a new one to replace it.

Put new bearing in freezer for 1/2 hour.-------Support bearing housing on a couple cement blocks / bricks.-------Heat the bearing housing with a propane torch.-----Bearing will fall out.----Drop in the new bearing while housing is still warm.

^^^ Simple is always the best. If for some reason racerone's method doesn't work, rent a slide hammer with a two jaw puller head. Bring your new bearing to the rental store to be sure the puller jaws will fit. Clamp the housing in a vise - use wood strips to protect the housing surfaces. Heat the housing and pull the old bearing. Follow racerone's freeze/heat instructions to plop your new bearing in.

Well, the old bearing did not "drop" out. Took some tapping - Hard. The new one is about 1/4 the way back in. Needed a break. It did not drop in. Since the new bearing is not cold any longer. Where do I go from here?

That method works for me every time.-------Now you need a press or big vice the push it in.

I just put the housing in a old large soup can and pop in oven at 350°...go do something else and come back and find it has dropped out into can. Remove new one from freezer that has been in for overnite, remove housing from oven and drop it in..

I'm stealing from Scott Danforth. Reheat the whole thing. Get an aerosol can of freon/keyboard cleaner. Spray the bearing until it's nearly frozen. Tap it in.

I got it. Hopefully, it doesn't matter which way I dropped it in. I did not see anything in the manual about orientation. It looked the same ie. no taper or anything.

I'm putting the same connecting rods back on. Do I need the special tool indicated in the manual for the rod caps?
