It should be just like my older 50 horse Merc.<br /><br />I tilt the motor up and block it so it won't drop on my head. Shift into forward. Mark the position of the zinc steering trim tab and remove it. You have to remove a small plastic plug to access the bolt with I believe a 1/2" deep socket. Under the tab there should be another bolt either 1/2 or 9/16", remove it. On each side of the LU there is a 5/8" nut. As you loosen them the LU will start to separate. As the LU separates remove the nuts. The LU should slide right down.<br /><br />After removal mark the position of the reverse lock cam in case it comes off the shift shaft. If the cam is reinstalled in the wrong position the reverse tilt locks will not function and the unit may not shift correctly.
