I have a 1978 Evinrude 75 HP model 70873 that I need to pull from my boat to do some repairs on the transom. My service manual does not show me the proper way to remove this heavy engine or the best way to store it till I'm ready to put it back on. your help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to damage the motor as it runs great. Thanks, Dave

Use a good flywheel puller, good chain and grade 8 bolts. Bolt the flywheel puller to the flywheel and run the chain under the flywheel puller and through the bolts. When you are done hook the chain up to a cherry picker and lift. to store it use a regular engine stand.

That motor is supposed to have a lifting eye bolted to the powerhead, just forward of the top end of the cylinder head. Is it not there??

Thanks for your help. There is indeed a lifting eye right where you said it would be. I greatly appreciate the knowledge available on this forum. Once again thanks

Don't cut the wires
They all should have plugs or connections that can be undone.
