how to remove old gelcoat repair patches??/

hi guys,
what do i need to do to remove the old patches that really dont match aND redo so they will..

Whisker, I would think that you would need to grind out the mismatch and fill with new matching gelcoat. Depending on how much "off" the color match is will determine how much grinding depth you will need. How about a spot of paint to match?

If the surface is smooth and looks the way you want it to, then you just need to sand it with 120 grit (or close to that) and spray some new matching gel coat over it, then sand and buff.
If these are old failing repairs then more work is needed, possibly grinding them out and starting over.

If epoxy was used to make the old repairs, then gel coat may not bond well to it, so more work is needed.
