How to repair paint?

I purchased a used boat and did not realize it had been repainted. In an effort to bring some luster back to it I used rubbing compound which only served to dull the little bit of luster it had. Are there any products out there I can use without having to have it repainted?

You can try to wet sand it with 1000 grit wet paper. Then 1200 and 1500. Might do the trick.

Ayuh,... That's only step 1 of the process,...
Ya need to keep buffing with finer compounds....
If ya don't run outa paint...
