I would also like to replace my impeller on my Johnson TN27 1951 5 HP.
Does anyone know where I can find a video on this procedure or instructions?

Short version:
Drain oil from gearcase.
Disconnect clutch cable from bottom of clutch lever (below gas tank)
Remove the curved tube that the cable is coming out of.
Remove 4 bolts holding gearcase to midsection.
Notice the 1/4" plate between gearcase and midsection. Remove gearcase from below the plate.
Now pull the plate assembly from midsection. Water pump and clutch & cable will come with it.

Takes a special impeller (NLA). you can make one by reaming the center hole in a 3hp / 5.5hp / 7.5hp impeller

Thanks for the help. I will give it a try. Will I need any gaskets or extra parts beside the impeller?

me… I reuse any gaskets that did not break when I take the water pump apart you can usually cut a new gasket from gasket sheets by copying the pattern if not order a new one.

gasket goo may help to seal

I do not think a small water leak is to serious if 98% of the rest goes up in the powerhead

up to you...
