How to restore this faded gelcoat?

I've read through previous posts, but I'd like some opinions on how to remove this chalky finish from the gelcoat? The top of the hull should be the same glossy red as the bottom. Do you think the Vaseline trick would work, or should I use the scotchbrite pad with comet, then use rubbing compound and polishing compound?

Each job can be a little different, I always try the easiest thing first. A little Vaseline will be cheap and quick if works for ya.

May consider wet sanding followed by a rubbing compound buffing.

The wet sanding and compounding worked for me. Try not to be too aggressive on the sanding and buffing.

Very nice boat! I bet it runs like a top! What kind of power do you have on it?

I did the sanding a rubbing compound and it works great. It is a TON of work though. I am going to try out polyglow.
