Hi,
I just bought a new fish finder for my Tracker Pro Guide V17, I think its a 2005 model.
I need to install the new transducer that has its own ready mounted cable.
Looking at the installation of the current sensor, it vanishes on the right side underneath the carpeted wood panels and exits in the back together with the steering cables.
How do I get in there?
I think the panels are screwed down with stainless philips screws, I don't think they will survive the removal and re-install.

Any hints?

Welcome aboard.

Tie a string on the end of the cable connected to the old transducer at the head and gently pull the old cable out from the rear. Then tie the string to the new transducer cable and gently pull the string and cable forward. If the cable or string sticks when pulling it either way, pull the opposite way a few inches and try again.

Thanks for the tip.
The tunnel on the right side is about 6 feet long and it also contains the wiring for the outboard, the steering cable and throttle control.
I disconnected the old transducer cable and found already that it was fastend down with 5-6 zip ties. I removed them and try to pull the transducer cable from both side, did not move at all!
Looks like the fish finder was installed at the factory and they must have used zip ties inside of the tunnel. Not good. I'll try pulling some more, but I might have to remove the panel, don't know if thats even possible.

Further update.
The side piece was actually easy to remove. Put the new transducer cable in and bolted it back together. Took about 30 minutes.
All done now, got a shiny new Lowrance Hook 5.
If anybody has some questions, please ask.

Wasn't that easy? LOL

Yeah, factory install with liberal use of zipties complicates the while thing. My string idea wouldn't work with those ties holding everything together.

Glad you got it done and go catch some fish!
