How to run the gas out of a F100??

I have a Yammy F100 (2000). It has no fuel disconnect. I have always thought it is good to run the gas out of engines when not using them for a month or 2. I am not talking about winter. Anyway the F100 has no fuel connect into the engine. What should I do? Should I even run the gas out. Thanks!

Running the gas out is a totally debateable (and has been debated here a few times) practice.
I run mine ALLMOST out, but never dry. Reason being, it is 2cycle...No gas nmeans no oil.
I wouldn't worry too much about the gas in the bowl,if you will be using it within a month or two.

yamaha,

If your Yamaha is EFI, it's not necessary. Just put conditioner in the fuel.

Howdy, Yammyman.

I agree with DJohns. In fact I would do the same with a carbed engine like your Yammy.

Good luck. :)

Ring free is a 2 stroke additive. Use Stabil. :)

The F100 isn't EFI. With 4-strokes (carbs or EFI), Yamaha recommends running the outboard at idle speed until the carburetors or fuel delivery system is empty and the engine stops. Each carb will have a drain as well. EFI's need to have the vapor separator drained. Yamaha also recommends draining fuel tanks. Of course adding a fuel stabilizer to the fuel that can not be drained is a good idea.

You can pinch the fuel hose off to do this, or disconnect the supply line under the cowl.

For 2-strokes Yamaha recommends the fogging/stabilizer routine.

Hope this helps.

beudro, there is an inexpensive tool made specifically for clamping hoses. It's like a locking pliers with a wide, fat clamp area as to not damage the hose. They work well. ;)

Any decent auto parts store should carry it. I got mine at NAPA. :)
