I have shipped several small outboards that I have sold on ebay, but never one this big. It will have to be shipped via freight, can anyone help me out? The motor is an 85hp Johnson.

I have sold some big stuff on ebay in the past. I took it to one of those packaging stores, you know like "mailboxes INC. They crated the stuff for really cheap and set up for the frieght co. to deliver. It was easy and the best part is the buyer has to pay the shipping.

You might try Fedex Freight. You might be able to drop it off at one of their shipping centers if you don't have access to an easy way of loading it onto a truck. I also don't think they'll pick-up or deliver to residential addresses, but on that I'm not positve.
When packing the motor make sure it is secure, if at all possible strap it down after wrapping it in something.

You might want to be careful when using a company like mailboxes ect. If something happens and you need to file an insurance claim they are the official shipper and you basically have no say in the claim.

I had an outboard shipped to me that I bought on ebay. It was damaged durring shipping. UPS would only deal with the shipper who was the shipping store not the seller. The store wasn't helpful and I never got paid for the damage even though it was insured.

Be careful.
