HOW CAN I TELL WHAT KIND AND LENGTH OF STEERING CABLE I NEED? I HAVE A 1969 16.5FT KENNEDYCRAFT W/A 70HP CHRYSLER ENGINE. MY STEERING COLUMN IS FROZEN. THE CABLE TO THE ENGINE WORKS BUT THE PIECE THE STEERING WHEEL IS ATTACHED TO IS FROZEN. I DON'T KNOW THE TECHNICAL TERM FOR THAT PIECE.

You're gonna have to give us a heck of a lot more information than that.

Just go ahead and buy a complete new steering system... It's the easiest way to do it..

The whole set up with a new helm (aka steering column), cable, and all hardware only cost about $10-$20 more than a new cable and is well worth the extra few bucks to do it right the first time...

Have a look at the Teleflex web site for more info on steering systems... http://www.teleflexmorse.com/Marine/default.asp?ID=17
