my controls on my 1990 90hp engine are aweful stiff going into forward/reverse. takes a good bit of effort.
I'm going to look into seeing if its the control itself or the cables but as I get into I'd like to know while I'm digging around what numbers on the controls I need to look for to figure out which model I have as there's two types for my year range one is I think a standard commander with tilt/trim and the other is a commander 2000 with tilt/trim.
also, how do you accurately measure the cables in case they need to be replaced?
considering the controls/cables were underwater in saltwater for 15 minutes in the past, I wouldnt be surprised if the cables are beginning to corrode internally, the controls are freezing up, or a combination of the two. one of the last things I have yet to explore/replace on this boat. actually, I'm pretty sure it is the only thing I havent done anything with or replaced, lol.
