what kind of test to perform to know if your water circlating pump is working???? 350 chevy 260 horse power salt water cool thanks i hope i got some info before friday. thanks again.

What do you have and what are your symptoms?.A hot running engine at idle generally indicates a bad seawater pump or sterndrive water pump .Hot running engine powered up, a restriction or bad circ pump.Point is ,those circ pumps do'nt fail much to the point of running hot.So what is happening to you?

thanks for the quick respond, pick up a bad over heat, never overheat before, there was water coming from the flame arrestor i gess from the valve cover. why will water coming from there.. while i was fishing i was doing a lot of backing up, i meant reverse a lot of times because the ancor rope got stuck could that meant water got through the exaust flappers. ??? when i took of one side of the exaust with risers i notice water in one of the exaust hole on the engin block. help help i got to fix my friend boat before he comes back. thanks. i check the water coming from outdrive thats good the risers and manifold is not so bad.[but] oneside was hot while the other was kind a cool.<br /><br />thanks again.

So you picked up an anchor line.sucked the back of the boat down , and ,keeping the engine running,filled the crankcase with water?Go get it fixed ,really fast before your bud gets home.Then share with him the nightmare.You are friends,right?

na na the ancor was stuck for a while you know how it goes when you fish the reefs the back did not suck down all i can say that close to that is i remember getting a big wave one time whin i was in reverse, it did not come over the transome in the boat or anything i dont knows if that make a diffrent. thanks for the info.<br /><br />the mec is checking it today. waht is the running tempiture for the 350 260 i meant normal running tempt because for a long time it was running 120, was that too cold???

hey guys a little more help. this is what i come up with with searching this great site. since this over heat happen, i caunt keep fluid in the power stering three times i put fluids in and when i go back it gets empty i pull the inlet water hose from the drive to the oil cooler, and the stuff that runs out the oil cooler is like milk shake real milky. could this oil cooler be my problem?? finally did i over load the boat that day and have pick up a water interjestion??? i did have five guys on board and all was fishing from the stern, could it be while the baot was on the ancor with int engine off water was getting in some one please hit on this thanks. right now the boat start but it dont idle too good any more.

problem solve guys it was a crack riser. but gess what the mechanic change water pump in the drive before he finds out it was the riser, you tell me a good mechanic before he pulls the boat would do a good water flo test before he pulls the boat, but no he has to make himself a few more hundred dollars before he pin point the problem to the riser. everything cost me 700 dollars only one new riser. plus i need a new oil cooler.<br /><br />well thank every one who try to help.<br /><br />god bless this site.
