Fill out the profile.Salt water or fresh water use?
I guess it's about a 1973 model. If it's that old be careful not to try to loosen and bolts/nuts.
Seem the only thing you need to change is the plugs.I think that they use a perma-gap plug UL77V.
Then change any filters,if no filters maybe install one in the final hose before the carb.
Ethanol is delaminating older hoses making them soft and turning the inner core to mush.
Replace all the hoses even the squeezie.
Do a decarb.Use Mercury's Power Tune or Seafoam.Follow the instructions.
Get a FACTORY manual. The others are ok but nothing comes close to the original. Then if you feel confident check the timing.
DON'T undo any linkage or change anything unless your sure that's what's needed.Way to many tinkerers screw up stuff by just adjusting it a little bit.J

Basic maintanence is to drain and refill the lower unit checking for milky looking oil and change the plugs with the correct gap, water pump if you don't know when that was changed.

If the engine is going to set unused for more than a couple weeks drain the carbs at the float bowl and as mentioned get a fuel filter on it, even a cheapy clear plastic one is good.

Again if it runs well that is really all there is to do, if you can run the engine, with water of coarse, a decarb never hurts.

Is this an electric shift?

If you plan to keep the engine I woud stronly suggest you get an OEM manual for it, that is an OMC manual, not Clymers ect, they are a little salty but pay for themselves the first time you use them, you cna get them here at iboats or look on ebay.
