How To Turn 60HP Into 70HP?

After having removed my powerhead and resealing the case, I got VERY familiar with the manual. I noticed that the 60 and 70HP are the same block and all. I asked my dealer what makes the difference and he said it had to do with bigger high speed jets and timing. He did not know anymore than that. My question is what would I have to do to turn my 92 60HP into a 70HP?
More Power!!!!

Trade it in. There are a number of things that go into getting the same horsepower from the same block. You have to change all of them or you just get a partial change that has the potential of melting down what you already have. In nearly all cases, it's cheaper to get the right motor in the first place than to try to get more out of what you ended up with. At the most, you'd get another 3 or 4 mph. It's rarely worth it, and most people that try are disappointed with the results...if the motor survives that is.

Think of the flow of fuel/air/exhaust in your engine as a chain, Freeze.

Could you make a stronger chain by changing a link, or even a couple of links? Not likely so you would notice.

It's that way in 2 strokes even more than in 4 strokes. Worse, if the "links" are not compatible with each other adding a "stronger" link can actually reduce torque and make the engine run poorly.

Guys like DHadley can work magic on 2 strokes, but they modify/improve everything to make what engineers would call an entirely different engine. Even then it is a racing engine that is usually not suitable for pleasure use and costs a lot more than a larger displacement pleasure engine of the same torque.

Get a bigger engine and do your hot-rodding on your car with aftermarket add-ons.

Good luck. :)

Keep an eye on a post by bosse titled 60-75. You both want to do the same thing. If you'll pop in there and ask (I'm sure they wont mind) for permission to add you questions we can all benifit form several ideas. Besides we can see in one thread how both projects are coming.

This is one time 1 thread is better than 2.

Ok, that may be an idea phatmanmike. Seriously though, if I ever have to replace the powerhead, can I get a 70HP powerhead and put it on? Will it just bolt right up?

If it does fit you will still have the issue of exhaust tuners being different.
