Hi, I am a newbie to I/O engines, can someone tell me the correct way to winterize the 4.3l engine and alpha one outdrive, or if someone knows the link to a good video, would be greatly appreciative, don't want to ruin the motor over the winter, or would I be better off paying someone to do it?

Thanks in advance,
Greg

Basically you flush and fog the motor until it stalls thru the carb or if injected thru a remote tank with a winterizing mixture
Remove all the drain plugs, probe the holes to insure drainage
Fill with a product that will keep the cast iron from rusting or leave everything dry, your choice
Check outdrive oil for level and condition, and remove drive for service,
Replace impeller if over 2 years for Alpha1 and 4-5 years for Alpha GEN II

Don’t buy one of those winterizing kits that purports to feed antifreeze in through the outdrive. They’re a recipe for a cracked block in the spring. Don’t take shortcuts.

Why are you talking about winterizing in July? stop it, don't do it!

Also, fogging is a somewhat debatable topic. I grew up in/around boats since a very early age. Owned 2 different boats before I ever had a car. I didn't know of fogging until I found this forum, and yet all my engines (many, many boats, ATV's, snowmobiles, mowers, etc...) survived without a drop of fogging oil.
