This may be very simple but I just cant figure it out right now. How do you get a boat from a trailer to stands? And where would I get my hands on some stands?

Re: How to??

A marina that has dry storage can do it for you. You launch it they pick it up with a forklift and put it on the stands. Some places can pick the boat up off the trailer and put it on stands.

Or, and I think this might work, lower the front of the trailer as far as possible. Place your stands under the rear of the hull on both sides. Raise the front of the trailer. Place stands on the front of the hull. Lower the front of the trailer. Hull should be suspended.

If you need to get the trailer out from under it then you would need to elevate the rear as above but use a "beam" (say a 4x4 on blocks) as a stand for the front. Lower the front and pull the trailer out..........

As I said, this might work but it depends on how heavy your boat is.

Re: How to??

Its a 1987 19.5' Bayliner Capri. I am going to need the trailer for another boat and since this one will be on land for a while, it will be the one going on the stands.

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on these stands? Used is prefered.

Re: How to??

you don't need stands.

1/you can lower the tongue to the ground. i would get some 6x6 or old railroad crossties cut the +- 12 inches, now block up the transom. 2/

Raise the tongue of the trailer the back of trailer will drop away from trailer. this is the tricky part. between the cross braces of the trailer block the keel lower trailer, boat will be suspended on the blocks.

3/ pull forward, lift bow again, and reblock i a different place. repeat until trailer is out from under the boat.

4/ to reload, just reverse the procedure.

if you were just working on the bunks, or painting the bottom. you could just do the first 2 steps.

Re: How to??

I have used concrete blocks with a wood pad I set them at a 45 degree angle to the keel and 90 degrees to each stack. So they are more stable.

I think I know what you are saying, but this part kinda got me. Im taking it that the rear of the boat has to be hanging off a bit to get the transom on blocks, but then how do I get the rest of the trailer out without pulling it off the blocks and how far should I be able to pull the trailer out without having to put a support in because I see people with just two in the rear and one in the front many times.

Re: How to??

Have trailer attached to tow vehicle.
Tie boat to a tree.
Drive vehicle forward enough to drag boat back a bit.
Place supports under rear of boat.
Drive vehicle forward some more to allow getting supports under front of boat
Drive vehicle and trailer away.
To reload, reverse procedure, dragging trailer under the boat with the winch.

Make dang sure that boat is stable. You don't want it crashing down on some kids that are sure to be attracted to it.
