How Was Everyone's 4th of July Weekend?

Just wanted to know, now that the weekend is over and we're back to the salt mines, how was everyone's weekend? I hope everyone had a blast. I, for one, had a good time, but it would have been much better if the dang boat was up and running. Had a friend come in from Iraq, and took them to the beach and had a good ol' fashioned southern BBQ. Any crazy stories, anyone? The only one I have is yet another broken cell phone. For the price of these things, you would think that they should be much more durable.

Excellent weekend! (Even though I, too, am having boat issues)
Kids did not lose any digits or eyes from fireworks and kind brother-in-law took us all boating so we could still get on the water despite our boat problems.

Hope your friend from Iraq had an enjoyable Fourth of July weekend...sounded fun to me! :)

I had a blast catching little tiny bluegill, rock bass and perch in Grass Lake, MI with my 3-year-old and his cousins on Great-Grandpa's 15ft pontoon.:D

The kids(6yrs and younger) had just as much fun hauling 'em in as I did hooking their worms and releasing the panfish. Couldn't keep the lines in the water without hooking another little guy;) (us adults have been talking about getting rigged up to catch some 50" muskie on the other end of the spectrum)

Also watched the fireworks from the lake and had some good laughs watching the "weekend warrior" boating types trying to land boats in the dark with no dock.:D

Celebrating our freedom from tyranny doesn't get old:D:D

We had a blast up in Sheboygan at the cardboard boat races. The most fun is when they fall apart and puts the occupants in the river.(coastguard and local law has boats by the ready to pick up survivors.) Then my 14 years old friend called and asked if he could come back home by him and sleep over. Hmmmm, go to Drews house and let off $600.00 worth of pyrotechnics, or stay with mom dad and sister at our cabin. Good thing I trust Drew's dad to use good judgment when it comes to those things, because it took him a New York second to decide. We will have video of it soon I am told. Still has all digits and limbs. Chris did a good job of supervision.

Re: How Was Everyone's 4th of July Weekend?

me and the gf had a real good 4th. thankyou.
went to my local watering hole on 4th. left about 6pm and got on the water round abouts 7pm. it was remarkably empty considering it was the 4th. but not empty enough. i was just trolling down the shore line w/o a care in the world. this other fella was pulling a tuber around. he was doing well till i looked behind me at about 4oclock and here he comes. looking at the tuber, not me. i watched for a moment before i decided he might not see me. he was bow high just on plane. lime time got out of his way quickly. sure is fun to have a boat capable of getting up and going right now....

had a great time watching fireworks on the lake till about 11:30pm. only 4 boats on the lake that i could see. great show too. lots of fireworks reflecting off the lake.. came in to the local launch and found it empty except for one other van in the parking lot. just me and him. slept great overnight and got up to nice hot strong coffee made in my van (it's got 110v) by the gf.

went out early on the 5th and had a great time. around noon. i passed a fella with his engine compartment open. gave him a tow to the dock. so did my good deed for the day. a little later on i'm just floating around and some lunatic on a jet ski is coming right at me. doing a little s turn thing at high speed. he earned the finger from me on his way by. he was screaming at the top of his lungs having too much fun. the water spray from his ski just missed my boat. that was too close and appently he read sign language as he never came back by closely..

i left about 1 or 2 pm. it was getting real busy... passed the dnr guys on their way out to the lake on my way home...

it was a great 4th of july for me...

Mine was excellent. Revisited the old neighborhood that I had lived in for 32 years before moving about six miles away. Every year that little community has a great 4th parade with the youth and adults marching, it's a whacky parade. It is the only section of the city where you are allowed to drink in public during the 4th, no police presents, they stay away. We have over a thousand people in attendance, no fights in thirty years.

Great fireworks that last over an hour and a huge bonfire that goes off at 9:00 PM sharp.

Well we had a Canada Day weekend this weekend so we shared it with you all by the looks of it. I got the vehicles ready for our vacation trip coming up this weekend, did some yard work, tuned up the pool, had Saturday evening at a local friend's house and walked there and back home (no drinking and driving for us) Yesterday we spent the day on the lake. It was just the perfect day for it. Back to reality today but looking forward to going to the cottage on Saturday.

No work on the 3rd and was a wonderful day on lake with fireworks that night. Woke up 4th with rain most of the day, no boating, more fireworks that night. Sunday cloudy and cold came home around Noon and the sun came out so took a bike ride and more fireworks from the front yard that night.

NO Boating!!...Four boats in the 'hood and not one in the water!
The wife scored a great freebie glider bench(wrought iron) that we started to refine. I tuned the mower, rehung security lighting and got served drinx from an engine block!! The fireworks were loud and local, culminating in a battle btwn neighbors on both sides...Gotta luv the small town enthusiam for a good time. Oh, and lets not forget the sharp shooting for shots btwn me and the neighbor...I won! Or did he? All good FUN!!

Re: How Was Everyone's 4th of July Weekend?

been off for 2 weeks and the kids kept me busy. Amongst the various outings (beach, mountains, caverns, historic sites, amusement park), we took lots of trips on the boat :D I finally have everything working well and we're down to a leaving the front door, driving to the ramp, launching, and motoring away in under 10 minutes.

Since the first several times were filled with trailer and outboard problems, we feel blessed now, just hope the luck holds.

Caught some monster 8" bluecrabs, a lot of spot and croaker, and just had a good time motoring around having lunches out on the water.

Re: How Was Everyone's 4th of July Weekend?

Although I had to work most of the weekend I was able to get out Sunday. Got to fish 10hrs straight & loved every minute. I did get soaked by one rain storm & acquired a mild sunburn, but it was worth it.

Funny thing is that I forgot it was the 4th weekend. I kept saying to myself there are a LOT of wake boarding boats out today. Never paid much attention to them before, but I felt like I was anchored off beach at times. Thankfully Lake Ouachita is huge, so there was room for us all. Did I mention I caught a lot of fish? Caught so many I was giddy.
