how & where do i find the Model S/N

Hi All I'm new to the outboard game. I have just got an old evinrude 25hp short shaft elec start.Where do i find the s/n & model no? It says fire force on the decal,and the 1978 on the black start system at the back of the engin.<br />yours hopefully. Hope all of you out there have a great Christmas. Regards JTS4U

Welcome to Iboats, JTS4U!<br /><br />The model number should be on a tag on the side transom clamp. It should have two numbers on it - a model number and a serial number. These are the '78 25hp model numbers:<br />258BF62<br />258BF63 <br />258B62<br />258B63 <br />258BE52<br />258BE53 <br />25802 <br />25803 <br />25832<br />25833 <br />25852 <br />25853 <br />25832C <br />25833C <br /><br />Often with OMC outboards of this vintage, the model tag is missing. There is a welsch plug - a quarter sized convex silver insert - on the engine block at the spark plug end. Into that there should also be stamped the serial number and sometimes the model number.<br /><br />Hope this help!

Found it 25852C B 2881.So its a 1978 25hp eleci start short shaf ? Does it have a name like the norseman?<br />regs JTS4U
