Djohns- At one time Chevy reccomended that particular product. The new (at that time) small block was using way too much oil and this was there fix.

I like snapperbaits
Pistons get a bit of ATF (automatic trans fluid) on the rings when there installed..

Plenty of lube on the cam, pushrod ends, ect., usually what ever lube the cam mfg. specs.... No spec, i use Lubriplate...

Run at above 1200-1500 rpm for about 30 minutes to get the cam broke in, then, like Flahthead, drive it like you stole it..

A few good hard accellerations well into the hi end of the midrange rpm, to help the rings seat... (try explaining that one to the cops) After the first run, re-torque the head bolts (if necessary) and give everything the once over...

Keep varying the rpm's for about 500 miles or so..

200 miles, change the oil.. then I'l change oil again at 1000 miles...

--------------------
Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug.
Comments:
* oiling rings w/atf--never tried it--use whater flavor mo I'm using given flavor of the day.
*yep-Lubriplate assy. lube
*kinda mild run in 2/3 load max--vary the load.
* If you really want to know--100-200 miles of mixed driving change oil. Change filter and open filter up to see whats inside.
*load the same for short miles, increase varied loads,---and---per above recomendation, run 'er like you--------ahh, sorry, drive crarefuly
*change oil and filter and if you really want to see inside disect that filter again.

If a couple of filter instections are ok, I just let the Gods of Fate take over.

BTW_ another thread here talks about Fram oil filters--I be da convert to AC, etc from now

Every engine I have ever rebuilt I let it get temp. And beat it like a redheaded stepchild. I want it to fail right away if its going to blow up. You know the minute they come to life if the are going to live. Its a feeling and probably the noise of the rod knock that gives it away.
