How would you mount this?

I just picked up a wireless remote controlled, portable Go-Light, and I'm pumped. Got it at the local boat salvage yard for $10, and then picked up the remote on ebay for $30, and it works. Sah-we-e-e-e-t!!! :D Anyway, It has a suction cup base, as it's the portable version, which is great. Problem is, as my boat is a walk-around, I have no smooth surface on the bow to mount it. :( The gunwales are wide enough at the foremost bow next to the bow light to accommodate the light, but it's rough-surfaced.

Any ideas on what I should do to make it work for the suction cup? I was thinking of mounting a piece of clear plexi, but I know it will scratch, discolor, and not hold up well to the Florida sun and general elements.

Why not a piece of Lexan which is much tougher or maybe a piece of 14-16 Gauge Stainless Steel ??

I second the stainless sheet/plate approach. Have it cut to any shape you want and glue it (3M 4200) where you want it. No holes, it looks good and it's non-corrosive.

I have the mounted version of the Go-Light with the dash mounted joystick control. Awwwwwwesome light. Super focused high intensity beam of light. Can illuminate the shoreline 1/2 mile away :D:eek:

I'd start with flowers, a nice dinner, wine, maybe a little dancing...

One of my favorite materials for stuff like this is HDPE. The best source I've found for sheet HDPE is white plastic cutting boards. It's very easy to machine with woodworking tools and holds up well in sunlight.

Screw it Beefer, poly suction cups have no use in your area.

Beef the boat! Good Luck!
