How would you mount VHF antenna on my console (pic enclosed)?

Hoping to buy a VHF antenna soon and how I mount it is part of the buying decision. I want it removable as it will be seldom used - only for rare saltwater trips where I get out into bigger waters. Otherwise I'm going to take it down and stow it away underdeck.

My preferred location is right on top of the top rail to achieve maximum height. My only worry is a lack of support to a 4' (or possibly 6') antenna sticking up. I could mount it on the side rails but note how they are slightly angled. I would lose about 18" in height mounting it down here. Strong preference either way for quick relase style mounting mechanism in case I have to remove it when underway due to a lack of support. I guess I am open to mounting a 4 or 6' on the top rail and taking it down when I move. Thoughts? I'm a newbie to the whole VHF thing.
