Howdy Folks!!!

Seems like forever since I have visited the group. It's been a heck of a summer with me being out of the country and having very limited internet access. I'm afraid what access time I did have had to be used for work with an occasional e-mail back home. On the plus side, I managed to put some real change in the bank account and that is always a good thing. :)

Before going any further I want to take a moment to say just how shocked I am to learn that Don S. passed away. All my best wishes go out to his family and friends.

My boat business pretty much sat idle this summer and I sure missed spending time on the water for both work and play but there are still a few nice days ahead and I plan on doing some catch up. In fact I'm taking the admiral out on the water this weekend, probably on Lake Rathbun in Iowa. Speaking of the Admiral I'd be remiss if I didn't make note of how wonderfully she handled everything in my absence.

All in all things are getting back to normal, normal for me anyhow. Getting caught up on relationships with friends and family seems to be the order of the day and that's a good thing and I'm enjoying it. Nice to know I was missed and it's GOOD to be home! Sure missed this group of friends too and there were a lot of hot days I was thinking about all of you on the water and wishing I was with ya!

Oh one thing I nearly forgot, a special thanks to Kevin, he knows why!

Wow! Now that's a trip. Definitely some "tense" politics over there right now, but talk about a place with history. Ethiopia was known to the ancient Egyptians as Punt, as well as the ancient Chinese and Greeks. Heck, it was already ancient in the time of Solomon. His wife, The Queen of Sheba, was Ethiopian as well. They also have one of, if not the oldest (1st century), churches in the world, which in cut straight down, three stories, into solid granite bedrock...by hand. Another church in Addas Abbaba is said to contain the True Ark. The modern Coptic and Rastafarian churches are also derived from this lineage. Something to think about next time you see an "old" church in Europe like Notre Dame or St. Peter's, which are just wee babes compared to what's in Ethiopia. Glad you made it back in one piece Bubba! Do you get some time off to play with your boat now that you're bacj, or is back to the grind straight away?
