hp rating?

I have recently purchased a 1979 bass tracker boat
it is a 16ft mod-v alum. The boat has a coastguard max load limit label
but does not list max HP . Does any one know what the HP rating is on this boat? The guy we purchased it from said he got it with a blown up 40HP. Was wondering if it would handle a 50HP. I know the older motors weigh alot more than the new ones of same HP. Any help appr.

Side console? Center console? Tiller? For the best response I would contact Tracker marine
