Hull board replacement?

Well we've ripped out and gutted a good chunk of the boat today. Under the head I found a missing board on the inside of the hull. Now obviously I'll need to replace it but I'm not sure how.

Biggest questions are these: What kind of wood, and how do I attach it to the outside hull? Short brads? A marine safe wood glue? Thanks for the help.

I am assuming you mean the inside of the outer hull itself.
