hull finish

my boat is a 1998 sunbird b.r. my question is how can i tell what type of finsh is on the hull? do all fibreglass boats have a gellcoat finish? i know sunbird was not a "top shelf" boat, but i don't want to ruin what ever finish is on it when i try to clean this nasty lake scum off of it. thanks for any help

get Hull clean at academy That is the only thing that will clean it...use it sparenly

If you are not sure what finish you are using you will want to be as gentle but effective as possible. <br />I always use this stuff called Fountain of Youth. Most of their line is non-abrasive but it all works amazingly. It is completely safe for your finish.<br /> http://www.fountainofyouthrestore.com is the website where i order it. Good Luck.

Mary Kate's On & Off works real good too. All you do is brush it on and then rinse off! Works wonders for brown water line stains and stuff that usually seems impossible to come off.

To answer your question.....<br />Yes, All fiberglass boats Start out with a Gelcoat finish.....<br /><br />Even Sunfish,+ Bilgeliners....
