Not sure where to put this so pls forgive me if this isn't the correct forum.
I recently pulled my 22 ft trophy out of the water after keeping it in a marina for about three months (covered slip in fresh water). I didn't realize the hull could get so crappy. I have been cleaning on it for several days and the have gotten as much crap off as I can. There is still plenty of stain though (or black that I just can't get off). Funtioanally it is fine it just looks like it was sitting in a toilet for three months. Suggestions? Do I need to repaint? Is there a chemical cleaner I can use? From no on I'll use dry storage instead of in the water...

Re: Hull question

Anything with oxcylic acid will remove it. Spray it on with a plastic nozzle sprayer, let soak 5-10 mins (or per instructions) light scrub and rinse off.

When i Got my boat it was faded all to crap and i thought i was gonna have to repaint.. I used to work at Merritt boat yard and one of the painters gave me some stuff called aqua buff that worked wonders.. It will peel off stickers though but it might clean it up I am not sure.. They make an aqua buff 1000 and 2000 you would need the 1000 first

Lysol toilet bowl cleaner actually cuts through the "crap" pretty well. Spray it on for 10 minutes, scrub lightly, remove with a pressure washer.

What are the disadvantages to using something with Acid in it... Does it "eat" through the gel coat??? I have the same issue to tackle this spring and don't want to use something that is ultimately worse for the boat than good.

Most metal would not like it, ie, trailers, outdrives, etc. T'would not hurt the fiberglass when used occassionally. Keep in mind, they use high concentrate acids to etch glass.
