Re: Hull question

The boat is in good condition. Is this kind of damage fixable? It is the only damage on the entire boat and only on the front of the hull. Thanks.

Re: Hull question

Evrything is fixable. Does it look like it went all the way thru th fiberglass or just the gelcoat.

Re: Hull question

I am as sure as I can be that it only went through the gelcoat. Not the fiberglass. But I am obvioulsy not an expert.... Thanks for the help

Re: Hull question

Can it be fixed? Yes. I had one that was worse and it was fixed fairly easily but, not by me. a good gelcoat person could fixt that in no time.

Re: Hull question

The scratches are superficial and need not be repaired, but can be.

The chips on the chine expose the fiberglass (they are missing gelcoat) and should be fixed. Not a big deal, but I would make sure that the boat is priced accordingly with the work required to fix.

Looks from the scratches that the boat was either moored in a very bad spot, or the trailer is setup incorrectly :)

Re: Hull question

Just find a reputable fiberglass repair shop or boat dealer and they should be able to help you. Go to the restore threads and ask how to fix it and post some good pictures from all angles. The guys in there do some great work that would rival any professional job.

Re: Hull question

you can find a gellcoat person in any area.

boats have a hard pigmented type of resin called gellcoat instead of paint.

gellcoat can be easily repaired. that paticular repair is approx 3 hours if the glass has not been comprmised.

gellcoat repair costs are approximatly 75 dollars an hour for a pro. materials are extra.

you can easily do it your self with the help of iboats restoration forum. total cost.....about 20 bucks and 5 hours.

cheers

Re: Hull question

Since this thread was moved to the restoration area, I was wondering if any one with fiberglass knowledge had any other opinions. I really would love to have/purchase this boat, but am really concerned with how much I might have to stick into it to fix that area.

Hey wishing,

I can not see the picture you posted. It says the page is not found. I was wondering if you could repost the pic?

I am also getting ready to buy a boat with what I think is slight damage to the hull and I wanted to see your pic and others comments.

Here is a pic of mine can you tell me if yours was better or worse than this?

^^^I'd fill that one in with some MarineTex and call it good.
