boat.jpgWhat is the best application to repair this scraped hull? It doesn't have any holes, but is pretty scraped up from being beached. Searching past posts, it appears that the Marine-Tex would be the best option, but I wanted to double check. I am simply just looking for a repair to build it back up & smooth out, not too worried about painting it. Thanks!

Re: Hull repair

Sorry, but it is a fiberglass hull on an early 70's boat.

Re: Hull repair

I'd mix up some poly resin, cabosil, and chopped up fiberglass mat to the consistency of peanut butter and fill it in, sand it off, then use some 3M marine filler to Fair it all smooth. If you want could then apply some Gelcoat and it would hardly be noticeable.

Re: Hull repair

Could I just use the 3m marine filler to fill it in?

Re: Hull repair

You could but... without the added glass fiber AND if you continue to beach it it will not hold up.

You could also just feather it out and install a Keel guard :) .
