Started to get my 1986 17ft Sportcraft center console ready for winter and have made a terrible discovery. Popped the hatch off the stern floor board to check the bilge and discovered that the wood decking between the fiberglass deck and hole is completely rotten. Could stick my finger in about 2 inches. After further investigation I found that there is more exposed wood down there that the factory never glassed. Also I have noticed the boat starting to sit lower in the water. Feeling heart broken, this is my first boat and i love it! the 04 Suzuki 4 stroke on the back has been amazing and now I'm feeling the hull is basically trash.
Thoughts? time for a new boat? i do understand the process that would have to be done to actually fix it right. as far as i know, i think most of the wood in this boat may be wet...
