hum/whine AM radio ranger reata 190vs

I listen to Am radio while fishing and when I start trolling motor or live live well there is static hiss on radio. Radio is wired to starter battery while accessories are wired to different batteries. Anything i can do to clear up hiss. Thanks in advance

Any brush style motor creates electrical noise (a mini radio station of sorts) so the AM band picks that up. Since the noise generators are on a different battery than the radio, the noise is "radiated" rather than simply being sent down the power line so it may be difficult to eliminate it. A noise filter can be obtained at Radio Shack and inserted in the power line for the radio. Since the noise is "radiated" and picked up by the antenna, a filter in the power lead may do no good.
