Humminbird 575 - screen fogs up

I have a Humminbird 575 that I bought late last summer. In the morning when it's cool and I mount the unit in the boat, the inside of the clear screen cover will fog up until the sun warms up the housing. Turning on the light seems to help the fog dissapate. Does anyone else have this problem? What I mean is this normal? My 20 year old Lowrance never did that.

I had the same thing happen on an Eagle after it was soaked all day while fishing in the rain. The breather on the back of the unit allowed moisture to get in since it was completely soaked, heating and cooling pulled the moisture in.

I put the unit in the truck for a week or so, the high temps and dry air pulled the moisture out. You want to expose the unit to several heat/cool cycles in low humidity so the moist air is pushed out when it heats and dry air is pulled in when it cools down.

Put it into a small room with a dehumidifier for a day. That will pull out the moisture. This also works well on other electronics that get dropped in water, cell phones etc.

I had that on an older Humminbird, and it never went away. Sounds like you are near the end of the warrantee, so I would register the problem with Humminbird, just in case the approaches suggested do not work.

The reason I suggest this, is because I thought they were sealed units and nitrogen filled.
