I have a Humminbird 931C on the way - I know it's discontinued, but the deal was too good to pass up for a brand new in the box unit.

I'm sure a few folks here have them, any advice as to what NOT to do, or what works best?

It will likely get mounted in the front of the boat because that's where I sit when I fish and the old 200DX will continue to be used for depth finding unter power.

Is it worth getting the GPS attachment?

Re: Humminbird 931C

Unit is here and installed using US2 on Terrova trolling motor.

Whole operation took about a half hour. Tried the 931 on the same battery as the motor, no interference that I can see...will it have much effect on the battery life for the motor?

Hi, How do you like the 931C? I just put one in lay away at Cabela's. I'm still thinking about this deal. Let me know what you think of it so far. I have a couple of Eagle's and am partial to Lowrance, but my budget was only so much, and this was a 7" screen. I guess I can get used to it....

Yep, that is a nice big screen. I think its only $100 for a reciever. Its worth getting, but not sure what maps would be default. I recommend registering at the HB site, so you can get access to download the latest firmware. I am near positive that there have been updates since the last 931c came off the mfg line.
