The transducer contains multiple elements at various frequencies and orientations.
It sounds like the 83khz element is non-functional.
That could be caused by a problem with the drivers in the Sonar display Head, A cabling issue, or a Transducer problem.
I would start with pulling all the connectors apart, Inspect for any corrosion and try it again.
