After buying this thing months ago I was finally able to use it yesterday. I can say that it worked very well, gave excellent detail, I was able to see arches and thermoclines with little problem. It worked fine at any speed, although at higher speeds there was a bit more clutter on the screen it still detected bottom just fine. I am happy with the purchase, I found it to be very usefull for what I do.

The Minnkota PD 40 (or is it 42?-can't remember) worked well. I ran it at about 5 and it did the job pretty good for being on a 16.5 boat that weighs about 1500 lbs. I could have ran it at 10 and got the job done quicker but I wanted to conserve the battery. It got me in and out of areas quickly and efficiently, and was easy to use. My only gripe was in order to permanently mount the foot control I had to disassemble the entire control unit. I wanted mine permanently mounted but obviously not everyone does this.

Overall I recommend both products for the casual fisherman who isn't bringing in large bank but wants to be out fishin'.
